" On Sunday, December 13, 2020 beloved husband and father James David Thurber of Fredericksburg, VA passed away at age 70 following a two-and-a-half-year battle with metastatic Uveal Melanoma. Jim was born August 25, 1950 to Robert and Marilyn Thurber in Rhode Island. One of five children, Jim spent most of his childhood in Texas and Hawaii, where he loved to surf. Jim married Elizabeth Lynn (Angotti) Thurber on April 4, 1992. Together, they raised one daughter, Virginia Elizabeth (Thurber) Covelesky. Jim was an accomplished land surveyor and small business owner in the Fredericksburg area. Through his businesses, he was known by many as a kind and dependable man. In addition to his passion for work, he also loved fishing and boating and spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Thurber, daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Michael Covelesky, brother, Albert Thurber, sister-in-law Linda Thurber, sister Donna Thurber and her husband Elwood.

A private, family cremation will be held. Other memorial services will be scheduled after the COVID19 vaccines are more widely available and when more personal love and attention can be expressed for our wider family and friends.
