Age 72

" On Tuesday morning, October 01, 2024, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home.

Born in Farmville, Virginia, Dickie was a "good ole' country boy" his entire life. Spending time with his grandparents, cousins and siblings growing up in Louisa, VA, was mostly fond memories.

Some of Dickie's fondest memories were when he was in the United States Marines. He was an auto tank mechanic and water marine mechanic. He loved to talk about his time in the Corp, and loved his country very much. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an auto mechanic until 2019.

Dickie was a hard working man. He always made sure his children and his wife were taken care of. He was the best father, husband and provider any of us could have dreamed of. He prided himself in doing so.

In his free time, he spent as much time with his kids and grandkids as possible. He loved to hunt (with his boys especially), go fishing, watch Nascar and football, read his bible and watch country western movies, that he had probably seen 100xs already.

Dickie had a great love for his dogs. They were his best friends. Bella and Booker will surely miss him and we know he is happy to be back with Biscuit, Suzie and Sasha.

Dickie also knew and loved our Lord Jesus Christ very much.

Dickie was preceded in death by his sister Charlotte Jean Jones; & his step-father Amos Redd.

He leaves to mourn his memory; his wife of 36 years Theresa; his mother Ina Redd; his children; Pamela Sears and her husband Joe; John Kidd Sr and his wife Wendie; Heather Smith and her husband Bernard; James Kidd and his significant other Becca. His grandchildren; Preston Smith, Jasmine Smith, Caleb Smith, Andrew Sears, Madison Sears, John Kidd Jr, Landon Sears and Noah Smith. His siblings; Charles Henry Kidd and his wife Lynne; Lilly Ann Whitney and her husband Jimmy; Jackie Post and her husband Chris; & Amber Mathis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.

He will be missed by many. His beautiful spirit will forever live on in the memories we cherish and the love we shared. +

There will be a Celebration of Life for Dickie on Saturday November 02, 2024 at Maryland Point Baptist Church in Nanjemoy, MD. & if you have and would like to wear camo, please do :)

    2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. "
