" James Tiches (Jimmy) of Stuart, Fl and Colonial Beach, VA passed away Jan 25, 2025; he was 93 years old. Jimmy spent his early years in Washington, DC serving several years in the Army. He then joined the US Postal Service, in Falls Church, VA. After working as a mail carrier, Jimmy was hired to work at the Library of Congress under the Architect of the Capitol, in which he enjoyed a long career. In 1968, Jimmy opened a restaurant in Washington, DC located on Capitol Hill, which is still in operation today.
Jimmy was a member of the Merrifield Virginia Lions Club for many years and enjoyed helping others through the organization. Once retired, Jimmy found a love for square dancing and became a caller. Loving Florida the way he did, Jimmy would travel between Virginia and Florida in his cherished convertible! While in Virginia, he would visit with his Grandchildren, make a sandy beach area for them and fix them cinnamon toast for breakfast. Jimmy enjoyed sitting on the porch looking at the water and spending time gardening. Later in life he enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and NCIS, as well as business channels and, remained King of the remote while enjoying his shows and family, relaxing in his heated recliner and PJs! We are so blessed and grateful to have had such a wonderful man as our Father, who always strived to make our lives better. Jimmy's marriage ended in divorce. He leaves a Daughter and Son-In-Law, who was like a Son to him; a Son and his Spouse. He is also survived by four grandchildren and predeceased by a grandson. We wish to thank his loving caregiver, whom he adored and who was with us at the end.
Any future service will be private."

Jimmy was a hard working man that looked out for his children. We had so much fun working for him at the restaurant when we were in high school and, when he would take us camping at the beaches! It's hard to believe so much time has rushed past us. I will always remember JT with love and gratitude for allowing us the experience of learning our first skill sets associated with the restaurant, preparing us for future working careers. Thank you, Jimmy, you are missed.
With love and prayers -

Dad thanks for all the memories. I am relying on them now to get me through. Just did not realize how many wonderful ones we had until now. Not a day goes by without a thought of you. Things you use to say and do. Lucky I had 68 years with you. I had no idea how hard it was going to be without you. I pray you are looking down on us and are proud of us. I sure am proud to be your daughter.
