" Mark Wayne Cline, 70, passed peacefully in his sleep on February 19, 2025.
Born and raised in Triangle, Virginia, Mark was fifth of six children. He grew up playing sports and excelled in wrestling and football. In 1972, he graduated from Gar-Field High School and earned a wrestling scholarship to Radford University. He served as a firefighter and EMT for over a decade before earning his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He went on to have a long career as a mental health professional with Fairfax County.
The Cline family volunteered together for years with Bread and Fishes, a program to help those who are food insecure. Mark and Jody also dedicated themselves to rescuing Chihuahuas. He was especially proud of helping his son become an Eagle Scout.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jody Cline (Potter), son, Tim Cline, and daughter, Rachael Quisel. He always said he didn’t want anyone to be sad at his funeral but to dance instead.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on March 8th at Dumfries United Methodist Church."

I have known Mark and Jody for nearly 50 years, We as a society couldn't have better people on this earth. Both Mark and his beautiful wife, were the most caring, empathic, giving, people you could ever know. Both of them loved their rescued pets very very much. And Mark and Jody never asked for anything in return. These 2 wonderful wonderful people are extraordinary , with 2 beautiful children (Timothy and Racheal) deserve respect and admiration for their extreme loving hearts, not just to the community but to each other and their children. You have my deepest heart of prayers and love. Mark was a wonderful husband and father. God be with him and his, to keep them safe. You have my deepest sympathy Jody and children. With much Love, Anna
