Age 73

" Sylvia was 73 years young when she unexpectedly passed. She was married to Joseph Pickeral and widowed after 20 years of marriage. She worked as waitress and server her entire career. She loved her job at the Chancellor’s Village where she worked for 18 years. What she liked most about working there were the residents as they became her extended family. She enjoyed creating special moments for the residents and strived to make every day feel like a holiday. Even after she retired, she continued to work part-time as it brought joy to her life. Nine years ago, she became the sole caregiver for her disabled son after a serious accident. She was a great caregiver and helped him gain independence in day-to-day life activities.

She was very proud and cared about her appearance and hated getting old. Even at 73 she wore her string bikinis, low cut tops and booty shorts. Anyone who knew her knows that she loved Indian Acres, sun, pool and the beach. She loved country music, dancing, and Elvis Presley. She was full of energy and always on the go and for some reason loved to cut her one acre of grass in the hot sun. Even through her rough and tough demeanor and fussing, everyone could see that she had a big heart.

One of her most memorable qualities was the frugal life she led. She only had basic service on the phone and cable, she would use the wood fireplace to save on the heat bill, she would hang the clothes out on the clothes line to save on the electric bill. She even hung the clothes outside in the winter and they would be stiff as a board.
During her life she was faced with many challenges and with help from family, friends and the church she persevered and overcame them. She was independent, hardworking, full of energy and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two nieces, three great nieces and a great nephew.

The family, would like to thank all that played a part in her life.
