"On Sunday, February 17th, 2019 Carol, after six years spent defying it, finally succumbed to cancer. She went down swinging and never gave up the fight, outlasting her prognosis by over 4 years!

Preceeded in death by inlaws Robert and Caroline Moffett. Survived by her husband of 35 years, J. Blair Moffett, daughter Emily Orsi and husband Mark Orsi, sons Tyler Moffett and Robert Moffett, treasured granddaughter Charlotte Orsi, mother Barbara Venezia, father Howard Venezia, Brothers Jim Venezia and wife Stephani, John Venezia and wife Karen, Mike Venezia and wife Stephanie, sister Laura Cyr, sister in law Patricia Smith, aunt Dorothy Moffett, numerous nieces & nephews and all of her UVA work family and friends.

Born in Hawaii on July 21st, 1961, to a Naval officer and Flight Analyst for Eastern Airlines, she spent her youth living in coastal areas around the world, later attending James Madison University and several travel related trade schools. She began her working life as a Travel Agent before embarking on her most important career as a working wife and mother. Throughout the 80's, 90's & 2000's, Carol worked diligently alongside her husband starting and running several successful businesses while at the same time raising a beautiful family. She also maintained a busy schedule of community service from volunteering with Madison Youth Sports to her stint as President of The Madison Women's Club. Once her children were raised, she started a new chapter, working at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She advanced rapidly there to the position of Administrative Specialist to the Head of the Transplant Department. In that role, she oversaw many projects including annual fundraising events and was Chair of the Transplant 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her family most of all, yet still found time to help others. She adored her home and property where she took many photos of nature and the changing seasons. She had a creative streak and was quite a good painter, crafter and decorator. She was a warrior for fairness in the world yet had a superior sense of humor. Her work ethic was second to none and earned respect from her family and co-workers.

She never let her illness define her despite the numerous chemo-therapy treatments, surgeries and other indignities she endured. She lived life to the fullest until the end. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community. She inspired everyone she knew to be stronger and do better. Our Carol was a real Class Act who will never be forgotten.

A family memorial will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Emily Couric Cancer Center, where Carol received such good care and treatment. "
