Age 49

" Andy Craig Meredith- husband, father, chef at heart, and an advocate player of Word of Friends passed away suddenly Thursday, February 27th, 2020 in Woodford, VA with his two youngest sons by his side. He was 49.

Andy was born in Washington. D.C. on July 20th, 1970, to his late parents, Earl Meredith of Pulaski, VA and Sharon Householder of Frederick, MD. He leaves behind his two older brothers to whom he looked as role models, Mark Meredith and Bradley Meredith both of Frederick, MD, his wife of 8 years, Dana Brown of Spotsylvania, VA, and his five children. Although his parents hoped he would continue his father’s legacy as a carpenter, he did not oblige them. Andy found his calling as a meat cutter a short time after working in the construction field. Unfortunately, he became permanently disabled in 2013 which ended his meat cutting career.

Andy would say his greatest accomplishment in life was being a dad to five kids. Most would agree that his ability to roast a prime rib would be a close second. An imperfect, but gold-hearted man, the several things Andy never lacked were affection, encouragement, and support for his children to be their authentic selves; and he truly enjoyed a good home-cooked meal. His all-star dysfunctional team of five includes; Shawn Meredith, 31 of Richmond, VA, Kassidy Meredith, 25 of San Antonio, TX, Charly Meredith, 18 of Sanford, NC, Landon Meredith, 7 and Silas Meredith, 4 of Spotsylvania, VA; will remember their dad for his big heart, bad dad jokes and hilariously infamous “torture time” they all enjoyed before their dinners.

At an early age, Andy would have been seen riding bikes with the Twinbrook Boys, traveling between friends’ houses rocking out to music, making custom hand-made cutting boards in shop class, and assisting with framing the first alcohol and drug rehab center for high school students in Gaithersburg, MD before graduating from Rockville High School in 1988.

The older and wiser Andy would often be seen playing on the playground with his kids or teaching them various life skills such as Uno or Scrabble and the importance of reading the Bible and speaking to God every day all while wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.

Recent hobbies of Andy's included spending his free time with his Maryland NA peeps. . . didn’t matter if it was just shooting the breeze on the phone, volunteering at an event or attending a Kolmac picnic. Andy loved every minute!

Over the last few years, he sought out and found his everlasting relationship with God. The Andy of the old, who couldn’t follow the rules and would do whatever he wanted, would now close his eyes and look up to the heavens with an open heart and pray for his abilities. He had been granted knowledge, understanding, and compassion; and he offered Christian advice for those in need.

Due to current events, a memorial service date for Andy is not available at this time. Family and friends will be notified about a date, time and location once this global pandemic is under control. . . remember to always trust in God.

In place of flowers, Andy’s family requests that you send donations to Christian Brothers & Sisters Transition Program, 10908 Courthouse Road Suite 102-183, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. "
