"James Harvey Chewning III (Jim or Jimmy) Age 63, son of Evelyn Mary Chewning (Thistle) and the late Henry Floyd Chewning, Born in San Diego California, was pronounced dead in his home in Spotsylvania county on Sunday April 5th 2020.
Jim graduated from Spotsylvania High School where he was on the wrestling team. He attended the University of Virginia at Wise. Jim was an experienced carpenter and at one time operated Courthouse Auto Parts. Committed to his children, Jim was involved in sports activities and was their BSA troop leader. Jim was kind, gentle and embraced life. He valued his family and many friends. He was good humored. Always with a joke and a smile. Jim took satisfaction in camping, observing nature, fishing, cooking, reading, racing, golf, billiards, baseball and sitting around a fire and having a conversation. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.
Jim is survived by his two sons William Ashley Chewning and James Allen Chewning (Lindsay) of Spotsylvania Va.
His sister Koren L Chewning and brother John William Chewning of Spotsylvania Va. His four grandchildren James Allen Jr, Henry Andrew, Marshall Alexander and Benjamin Alastair Chewning of Spotsylvania Va. His nephew David G Bull (Renee) and great nephew Joseph Bull of Richmond Va. As well as his beloved canine companion Bandit.
He is preceded in death by his sister Beverly Anne Bull and niece Sara Lee Bull of Spotsylvania Va.
