Life story
" Melissa Parr Loar, sadly, lost her battle with lung cancer on the evening of May 3, 2020. Lovingly known as Nawnee, Mess, and Lissa, she loved hearts, owls, and all things purple, and adored her family and friends. Mess was a hard worker, was great with numbers, and appreciated silly and colorful jokes, her Barbie collection, poker games, the beach, and sharing social media posts. She delighted in her home and its vintage decor and took great pleasure in antiquing and traveling with her husband and in-laws, being the family seamstress, and resident crocheter. Not fond of formalities or phony presentations, she was typically seen in her comfy blue-jeans and funny or personalized t-shirts and was proud to make custom Halloween costumes and grandkid outfits. She reveled in 4-wheeling and gaming online, in spending time with her grandchildren (any way they wanted), and in her highly-anticipated, annual sister-week! She was fond of Mexican food with Margaritas, Pinwheel cookies, chatting with friends, and catching-up at parties and get-togethers, but a favorite was always a rowdy game of kick ball with her clan! Nawnee was the expert waffle-maker and boo-boo fixer and always had a smile and joyful disposition. She was a loyal and loving momma-bear and her greatest passion was spending time with her large and cherished family. She was patient and honest and respected for her ability to know just what to say when someone needed advice. Family gatherings and events were a regular part of her calendar and she truly desired to ensure everyone felt welcomed and loved. An open table at holidays was a given, and she regularly invited guests and friends as part of the family table. Her space was kept neat and tidy, but she loved making a mess with her grandchildren, especially when her kitchen was filled with cookie-day fun, arts and crafts, and when holiday wrapping-paper fights ensued! She was a sincere and attentive listener and was quick with a hearty hug and kind word, but what made her undoubtedly more special was her warm, welcoming, and accepting soul. Melissa was faithful and welcomed home to heaven by her mother, Doris Parr, father, Adam Parr, and a sister, Janice Parr. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Loar, her sisters, Carlotta Parr and Bonita Parrack (Jack), her brother Stoney Parr(Kara), her children Jeremy (Danielle) and Tiffany Dudley (Maria), Kimberly Hewes (Wesley), and Chris Loar (Erin), and her precious grandchildren, Kaly McDonald (Toni), Shelby Hewes, Skylar McDaniel, Alexander Dudley, Lindsey Loar, and Trinity and Brayden Dudley, as well as her sweet great-grandchildren, Dixie, Piper, and Autumn Dean and her nieces Gail Holder and Anna Mikolay (Brian), her nephews Shane Atkinson (Shannon ), Ethan Parr(April), Timmy Acord, and great nephews and nieces, J.R. Atkinson, and Emily and William Parr. The matriarch of a large and loving family, Nawnee left her mark in our hearts and deeds as we honor her spirit in celebrating her beautiful life.
