Life story

" On Sunday, June 21st, Katherine Didzoneit Wade, known by those who love her as Kathy or “Mimi”, passed away at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 27th, 1941 in Alexandria, VA. She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Laurence and Clarice Didzoneit along with the father of her children, Earl E. Wade.

Kathy graduated in 1960 from George Washington High School in Alexandria, VA. She was a talented singer and was a member of the Varsity 6. She made her home in Woodbridge, VA where she and Earl raised their four children.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Wade Driscoll (Jerry Driscoll), Paul Wade (Kara Wade), Darren Wade Mateo (Stephen Mateo), and Christopher Wade (JoAnn Wade). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Chelsea Driscoll, Emily Driscoll, Jeremiah Driscoll, Dawson Wade, Wyatt Wade, Jordan Wade, Blake Wade, and Logan Wade. Her greatest love and joy were her children and her grandchildren.

In her early years, Kathy stayed home to raise her children. She later began an in-home day care where she touched the lives of so many who still call her “Mimi” to this day. She loved taking care of children and loved them all as her own. Kathy was beloved by all of her friends and neighbors who she knew for many years.
