" Geraldine Sharp, 72, of Spotsylvania, passed away June 30, 2020, after a brave battle with breast cancer.

She was born to the late Richard and June Poland Jan. 5, 1948, in Bellefontaine, OH.
Geraldine is survived by her sister Melanie (Bud) Rees of Zanesfield, Ohio, two children: Ellen (Todd) Bastian of Hampton; and Elizabeth (Michael) Loevner of Alexandria. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Richard (Brandi) and Paul Bastian; Logan and Edward Loevner, niece Laura Prater, and nephews Brian and Darren Rees. Geraldine was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Contizano and her nephews Todd Rees and Charles Contizano.

As a young girl in Ohio, Geraldine belonged to the 4-H and enjoyed home economics at Logan Hills High School. She was a homemaker for many years before working in retail sales. She applied her life experiences to become manager of The Kitchen Collection and later Le Gourmet Chef. Geraldine regarded her employees and customers as friends, and took great pride in her work. Outside of work, she shared her playful side, love of sweets and appreciation for the arts with her grandchildren, and made each of them feel special and loved. Geraldine was immensely proud of her family, and her independence.

Throughout her battle with breast cancer, Geraldine was warmed in body and soul by donated hats hand knitted by volunteers for From the Heart. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to From the Heart 1525 Crawford Wood Place, Midlothian, VA 23114. We thank the numerous doctors, nurses and other health care workers who provided care, compassion, and comfort to Geraldine and our family.
