Age 70

" Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Harris, departed to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 21, 2020. She was at home with family when she took the early morning train home. She began her life in Gate City, Virginia, as the fourth child of Alvin Hagan and Doris Alexander Kane. Her parents moved their family to Vienna, Virginia when she was in elementary school. She graduated from James Madison High School where she enjoyed the training she received as a “candy striper” in a local nursing home before continuing her health care work at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. She married the love of her life, Roshier "Wesley" Harris, Jr. on July 17, 1972 at a small family gathering. Their union gave them two children, Tasmin and Roshier Wesley Harris III (Trey). They continued living in the Vienna area for many years before relocating to Fredericksburg in 1992.
Clara loved helping people more than anything. Her gift from God was caring for others. After retiring from the hospital, she continued to care for others with home health care for the elderly. It brought so much joy to her to help those who needed her the most. She also loved working in her church, Spotswood Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia. The children’s ministry was incredibly special to her. From a young age Clara loved beauty and fashion, and that lead her to Mary Kay Beauty Products. For well over two decades she developed her small business and loved the people connection and opportunities it gave her. She devoted herself fully to everything she did and made a lot of friends.
Clara was preceded in death by both her parents, grandparents, sister Charlotte Bunaugh, and her beloved dog Nima. She is survived by her husband Roshier "Wesley" Harris, Jr., daughter Tasmin, son Roshier Wesley, III "Trey" and grandson, Terez Newman. Other family members
include her brothers Alvin Jr (Ella), Bristol, Tn; James (Val), Bristol, TN; Martin (Vanessa), Sterling, VA; and Jonathan, Bristol, TN; as well as sisters Anita Charles (Don), Bristol, VA, and Kathleen Walker, Bristol, TN. Two adopted sisters-in-law Mary Lee Johnson and Susan Williams.
She had 32 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, special friends, Teddy, Rene and John, Steve and Elizabeth and many friends. An incredibly special thank you to her church family, Spotswood Baptist Church for all the love and support given to Clara and her family.
The family is very thankful for the wonderful hospice care Clara received and the friends and neighbors who stopped by and called during her time at home. We would like to express our
gratitude to everyone and appreciation for your understanding in our not having a memorial service to honor her memory at this time because of COVID-19. "
