Life story

" Ann Marie Critchley, 52, of Spotsylvania County, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Mary Washington Hospital on May 2, 2021 after a long battle with chronic illness. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Norma White and Wayne Holmquist.

Ann was passionate in her love of and advocacy for animals. She found purpose and fulfillment in her career as a vet tech and would give up her own comfort to care for an animal in need. Her love of animals was only surpassed by her love for her grandchildren, Jesse “Quint” Matthews and Elizabeth Mae Matthews.

Ann is survived by her beloved grandchildren, her daughter, Norma Critchley Matthews, and her husband, Ernie Kinney, as well as siblings Vicky Hickman, Tammy Phillips, Ricky Hickman, and Amy Holmquist.

A private celebration of life will be held on June 5th 2021! At this time, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Fredericksburg Area SPCA. "
