" Deborah Jean Carter Robinson . . .
. . . passed away just before 3 a.m. January 29, 2022 at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.
She was born on April 27, 1962 in Fairfax, Virginia, and was raised mostly in Lorton, Virginia. She graduated from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia. She studied recording engineering at The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio and worked in radio broadcasting in Columbus and Cincinnati for a few years before coming back to Virginia.
When back in Virginia she worked in local radio and worked on live sound for a local band, Savage, in the early 1980s. In the mid-1980s, she was co-owner and manager of Video Villa in Lake Ridge, Virginia.
She was married to Stephen Robinson on November 7, 2009 at Silverbrook United Methodist Church, the church her family attended when she was a child.
She is predeceased by her mother, father, and several siblings. Mary Hedges Carter, mother; Raymond Delaney Carter, father; Virginia "Sis" Varner, Lorraine Carter, Barbara Magyar, sisters; James "Butch" Frye, brother.
She is survived by husband Stephen Robinson, and by sisters Shirley Frye, Carol Fawcett, and brothers Douglas "Billy" Frye, George Frye, and Charles Carter. She also leaves behind many sister- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Debbi loved her family and friends, most of all and best of all. But if you met her as a stranger, you did not stay a stranger for long. She loved to be among her beloved trees, especially at Leesylvania State Park, but also anywhere else she found them.
She loved all the little creatures of the wild, with the notable exception of insects. She loved music of many kinds, particularly the work of Billy Joel, Bette Midler, and Jeff Beck. Fingerstyle guitarist RIchard Smith was her most recent enthusiasm, having enjoyed his music and having met him in October.
She had much illness, accidents, and disease to deal with from her earliest days. She beat cancer four times, though it took a serious toll on her in many ways. But almost always she would greet the new day with gratitude and hopefulness.
She loved to decorate for the seasons and kept an artificial fir in the living room year round. Decorated primarily for Christmas, but also Easter, Spring, St. Paddy's Day, Steve's birthday, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Fall, or any other day she felt like celebrating.
She was a wonderful cook, her soups and grilled cheese a special treat. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed all day, every day. "
