**September 2, 1938 – February 13, 2022**

Russell John Puuri passed away on February 13, 2022, at the age of 83. Born in Hancock, Michigan, on September 2, 1938, he was a twin, though his brother sadly died at birth. His parents, John and Wendla (“Ventla” Walstrom) Puuri, relocated the family to Fremont, Wisconsin, in 1947 when Russell was nine years old.

Russell began high school in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, in 1951, graduating in 1955. He then attended Finlandia University in Michigan's Upper Peninsula from 1955 to 1957, where he earned an Associate Degree in Arts.

From 1957 to 1962, Russell studied mathematics at the University of Wisconsin's Madison campus. During this time, he married Greta Louise Kisling of Waupaca, Wisconsin, on July 2, 1960. Their first child, Timothy John Puuri, was born on November 21, 1960, followed by their second child, Patricia Ann Puuri, on July 5, 1962.

In 1962, Russell began working for NCR Corporation as a salesman. His career required the family to move frequently within Wisconsin: to Sheboygan in 1962, Green Bay in 1964, Appleton in 1966, and Oshkosh in 1967, where their third child was born and passed away shortly after birth on February 7, 1969.

The family moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1969, where their fourth child, Andrea Louise Puuri, was born on May 2, 1971. They continued relocating to Danville, Illinois, in 1972, Medfield, Massachusetts, in 1974, and Reston, Virginia, in 1978.

Following his divorce from Greta in 1984, Russell moved to Sydney, Australia, where he became the Marketing Director for NCR Australia. There, he met and married Katherine Burchmore in 1988. They had his second son, Daniel Russell Puuri, born on August 6, 1989. After their marriage ended, Katherine and Daniel returned to Australia in 2002.

In November 1994, Russell moved to Hawaii and married his third wife, Akiko Puuri, in 2007. He worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 until his retirement in 2018.

Due to dementia, Russell moved to a nursing home in Northern Virginia in 2020, where his youngest daughter, Andrea, ensured he received proper care until his passing.

Russell is remembered for his dedication to his family and career, his love for adventure, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He is survived by his children, Timothy, Patricia, Andrea, and Daniel, along with six grandchildren, and numerous friends and colleagues worldwide.
