Age 69

" Lawrence Clark Stull (aka SIRLOIN), Executive Chef, 29 year resident of Stafford VA., passed away December 7, 2022, of natural causes at the age of 69, with his family around him.
Larry Stull was born September 14, 1953, in Tokyo, Japan, son to parents Lt. Colonel Robert K. Stull Sr. and Elaine Shedd Stull, both who preceded him in death. His father was blessed with a second wife Sharon Stull of Arizona who loved Larry and his family dearly.
Larry enjoyed a life of living in Japan and Europe as a part of an Army military family, later serving his country as a civilian, and being a father, grandfather, husband, and friend to all. He spent most of his childhood in Germany until he was 12, resided in Kensington, MD, and graduated class of 1971, from Einstein HS, Wheaton, MD.
Larry began his culinary career at the Wheaton IHOP in 1968. His career spanned 49+ years, delighting some of the most important people in the U.S. and around the world. During his career in the Washington DC metro area, he worked on Capitol Hill 27+ yrs., was the Dinner Chef at Joe and Mo’s restaurant, partner in “the Sugarloaf Restaurant”, Germantown, MD, 1988-1990, Executive Chef at the National Democratic Club, and Chef at the House of Representatives. His special ingredient was adding “a little love” to his creations and striving to please his customers. One of his most important contributions as a civilian chef was bringing a little “home cooking” to our troops, in “Sandland” overseas in Afghanistan (2005 – 2009).
Larry and his family hosted seven full time high school exchange students through the years as part of the Youth for Understanding organization and enjoyed the enrichment it brought to all. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, member of the “America's 911 Foundation” as a road captain, and enjoyed a good ride.
He was our “myth buster” surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm/stroke in 2009, and several other medical issues throughout the years.
Most recently he volunteered for several years at Stafford’s S.E.R.V.E organization supporting the community. Larry lived life his way and lived it to the fullest… his favorite saying was “every day is an adventure.”
Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosemary Bassett Stull, Stafford, VA; children Fred Wilson (Erin) of Meriden, Wyoming; Christopher Stull of Washington, DC.; Sarah Stull-Plumbtree (Zackry) of Aubrey, TX; grandchildren Colten, Kaylee, Coy, Cruz Wilson and Kayden Plumbtree; his siblings, Susan Stull Mackenzie (Ian) of Ullapool, Scotland; Linda Stull of Reno, Nevada; Robert K. Stull Jr. (Tammie Sue) of Reno, Nevada; and James Stull (Rebecca) of Hillsboro, Oregon. Larry is survived by his father’s wife Sharon Stull of Casa Grande, Arizona, her family Kimberley Shepherd of Casa Grande, AZ; Neil Bowman-Davis (Melissa) of Napa, CA; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and extended family.
The family is grateful to the PROMEDICA/Heartland Hospice (Warrenton, VA) team for their support to Larry and his family over the past several days and to friends who stopped in to spend time with him. Funeral service for Larry Stull will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 13056 Elk Ridge Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406, 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2022. All are welcome.
