Life story

" Peggy Sue Underwood was born on May 17, 1962 in Elkins, West Virginia and passed away on May 27, 2023 in Warrenton, Virginia. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce, mother, Lois, brother, Richard, sister, Pattie, in-laws, and nieces and nephews all who loved her greatly.
After attending Davis and Elkins College, she met and married her cherished life partner and husband, Bruce Underwood, in 1984. Her professional career spanned over two decades beginning at Xerox company through its transition into Loral, and Lockheed Martin. Peggy was most recently assigned to the data management engineering team with the company. Her sassy and devoted presence could be felt by her colleagues in every project in which she was placed. Particularly in the office, her qualities of leadership, loyalty, and kindness radiated through her conversations and interactions with her coworkers and friends.
In her free time, she could be found providing love and shelter for any stray cat in her path, while caring for two of her own and a rescue dog, Harley, in their New Baltimore home. Moreover, Peggy’s love was not limited to her interactions with animals. It could be tasted in every savory or sweet dish she brought to family gatherings, or felt in each individualized gift she selected for others be it for special occasions or just because she was “thinking of ya,” which was often followed by hugs and laughter. The phrase that best described her, and that she self-identified with, would be “a little extra." This could be seen in her sparkly clothing selections, her extra dollop of this or that in her cooking, and love of specialty chocolates wines, or coffees she would share with others. Her warm and beautiful spirit will be greatly missed.
